Giza is considered one of the oldest cities in Egypt. It was the necropolis for the royalty of the Old Kingdom of Egypt. The beautiful city is famous for the pyramids of Khufu (completed in c. 2560 BCE) Khafre (c. 2530 BCE) and Menkaure (c. 2510 BCE) and the Great Sphinx (built 2500 BCE). Giza has always been a focal point in Egypt's history due to its location close to Memphis, which was the ancient Pharaonic capital. Now Giza is considered a part of The Greater Cairo city which contains Cairo and Giza. The Nile gives the city a mysterious beauty and a soothing breeze. Giza is also known for the different activities that can be done there; because of the its museums, Malls,cafes and restaurants, and cinemas and theaters. The opening of The Grand Egyptian Museum will give Giza even a more vibrant vibe added to what it already has !
